Glass Pin – a simple windows application that allows you to generate pins
It’s a simple windows application that allows you to generate pinsfor calling cards or scratch off cards. The file that Glass Pin creates is a comma delimited file. This permits the user to import the file to excel if need be or to send it to the printing company in plain text.
Glass Pin is very simple to use and quick. Has a double check feature to make sure that in a creation process there are no pins repeated. In other words every single pin created is check against the previous one. On an AMD sempron with 500MB of RAM creating 10K pins takes about 45 seconds. As more pins you create the time will multiply exponentially, since it will check every single one of them against the ones already created.
The Maximum pins you should create at any giving time should be 75 thousands, to be on the safe side. I have tested the application generating 100 thousands pins on the AMD processor. After the 80 thousands CPU utilization went up to 100%, the repeated ratio was about 0.008% and it took the system a total of 54 minutes, as you can see the creation process increase exponentially as more pins you do. The system automatically will remove any repeated pins and will generate a new one to include instead of the repeated one.
I do not recommend generating large batch of pins and use the computer for something else. I suggest run the Glass Pin generator and let it run. Come back when is done. You can probably live it running at lunch time.
