Startfox is a way to disable IE on NT-based systems because you hate it, but it is also a security product in the fact that many viruses come in through ActiveX controls and even IE while it is not open.
Startfox closes that hole in your security by using registry keys to replace IE with the more secure Firefox. Much in the same way SysInternals Process Explorer replaces Windows Task Manager, Startfox uses the registry key ‘Image File Execution Options’ to replace IE.
